Segway x2 Golf Model Offers Golfers A Unique Alternative to Traditional Golf Cart

SAN JOSE, CALIF. – October 7, 2007 – The Segway x2 Golf is getting a warm reception at two San Jose public courses as players embrace the Segway golf experience to improve their game. The units are available at two public courses in San Jose, Calif. - Santa Teresa Golf Club and San Jose Municipal Golf Course – for a rental fee of $26.

Since 20 units were deployed at each course this Spring, more than 1,000 golfers have been trained to use the Segway x2 Golf models at the San Jose courses, with half of them then renting a unit and playing a round of golf onboard the x2 Golf.

“With the Segway x2 Golf, not only do I get to enjoy the sport I love and have fun while doing it, but I also benefit from a game improvement tool at the same time,” said Joseph Mopress of Watsonville, Calif. “The speed of play is better and smoother and you get around the golf course a little faster than you would with a traditional cart.”

The San Jose courses join the company of other golf facilities that offer Segway golf products to their guests, but Santa Teresa and San Jose Municipal have distinguished themselves among the competition by offering the largest fleet of the Segway x2 Golf models. The x2 Golf features breakthrough LeanSteer™ technology that makes the ride even more intuitive than past models, and a wireless InfoKey™ controller provides added convenience and security. The Segway x2 Golf features a bag carrier, a scorecard holder and special low-pressure tires that enable the x2 Golf to travel gently on the course, causing less damage to the turf than a golf cart. It can travel the fairways for more than 18 holes of golf on one battery charge.

Nestled against the hills of south San Jose, Santa Teresa Golf Club is a par 71 course stretching across 6,742 yards. The course is one of the most popular and challenging courses in the Bay Area and features wide fairways, fast greens and strategically placed hazards. San Jose Municipal Golf Course was designed by Robert Muir Graves and opened for play in 1968. The straightforward layout of this course and its open fairways and flat terrain offer an environment optimized for x2 Golf and will likely help early-bird golfers to experience speedier play. The par 72 course traverses more than 6,700 yards.

First-time riders are asked to participate in a free 30-45 minute orientation to learn how to use the Segway x2 Golf. A $26 charge will be added to the greens fee at each course to enjoy the Segway golf experience.
