Segway Inc. Appoints James Norrod as President and Chief Executive Officer
BEDFORD, N.H. - March 21, 2005 - Segway Inc., maker of the Segway® Personal Transporter (PT), today announced the appointment of James D. Norrod as President and Chief Executive Officer. Effective immediately, Norrod will manage company-wide operations and serve on the Segway Inc. board of directors.
"Jim has an excellent background in building technology companies and developing new markets, making him an ideal choice to lead Segway Inc.," said Dean Kamen, Segway Inc. founder and chairman. "His expertise in other cutting edge technology sectors will bring a fresh new perspective to Segway Inc."

Norrod comes to Segway Inc. with more than 25 years of experience in technology and start-up environments. Most recently, he was chairman, president and CEO of Narad Networks, a provider of business broadband solutions. In 2000, Norrod founded Xanoptix, Inc. and served as chairman until 2003. Prior to founding Xanoptix, he served as President and CEO of Telebit Corporation and subsequently as CEO of ITK International.
Norrod has also run several start-up technology companies and has demonstrated a consistent ability to develop business opportunities that have resulted in increased shareholder value. He is a former executive of IBM Corporation, where he managed the General Motors account. He holds a bachelor of science in economics from Oakland University, and a master's in business administration from the University of Detroit.
