While you’re out and about this summer enjoying a long, cool glide on your Segway® Personal Transporter (PT), please glide carefully in your community. We’re gearing up for a very special SegwayFest in July (see story below) and are excited by the opportunities that summer holds.

SegwayFest 2005 continues in July in Manchester, NH.
SEG America, the independent Segway PT owners and enthusiasts group, is hosting three regional festivals this year. The first event—held in Sacramento, California on May 14—was a great success with approximately 50 West Coast owners and enthusiasts attending (see photos of the event at www.segwayfest.com ). The next SegwayFest regional event is scheduled for Manchester, New Hampshire, while a third event will be held in Washington, DC in September.

Deep in the heart of New England, Manchester is home to Segway Inc. This one-and-a-half day event will be held at Segway Inc.'s facilities in Bedford, NH and at the Radisson Hotel, in downtown Manchester, NH. Activities start on Friday, July 8, continue on Saturday, July 9, with optional activities on Sunday, July 10.

In addition to getting an exclusive tour of the Segway Inc. facility, attendees of this SegwayFest will also have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase and build their very own Segway PT! The event will also feature demonstrations, workshops, Segway PT riding skill contests, games, group glides, and much more. This event, like all of the SegwayFests, is supported by employees from Segway Inc. Saturday’s activities conclude with a very special and rare event – a BBQ dinner at the home of Segway HT’s inventor, Dean Kamen.

“Take a Spin” on a Segway HT
Guests to Epcot, the ever-changing theme park of discovery, can experience a Segway PT for themselves, firsthand, as part of two different programs.

“Around the World at Epcot” is a two-hour guided tour that allows guests to operate the twowheeled, one-person transportation device throughout World Showcase before the area opens for other park guests. The cost is $80 per person. Tours are daily at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. “Our guests will get the very unique experience of riding through several countries and observing the beautiful architecture from a different point of view,” said John Eric Sovocool, Innoventions show manager.

The “Simply Segway” experience is a one-hour program that gives guests a product overview, training and indoor riding time at Epcot’s Innoventions area. The cost is $45 per person. The Segway PT is now being featured in "Scuola di Polizia" (Police Academy) the most popular show in Mirabilandia. Located in Italy, Mirabilandia is one of the largest theme parks in Europe. The Segway PT is used by a brave Carabiniere to fire up the audience and give a sense of the incredible things they are about to witness. The Segway corporate logo appears on a sign right above a spectacular explosion and on the promotional video at the theme park. Last year more than one million people attended this amazing show!
