SegwayFest 2003 is the first owner-organized gathering of Segway enthusiasts. The convention will offer two days of in-depth workshops and educational seminars, Segway™ HT skill competitions, guest speakers, social gatherings and "gliding" opportunities. Segway Inc. You know it's coming, but not just yet.
Segway recently began the last stage of testing of our upcoming new Segway PT model, the p Series. You might have heard of the p Series—smaller and lighter than the currently available i Series. A closed engineering validation trial is currently being conducted, and we'll use the data gathered from this real world testing to get the p Series ready for its official launch later this year. Stay tuned for more news about this exciting evolution in our Segway PT product line.

Now delivering personalized training to your front door.
Segway has updated its orientation to make it easier than ever for new Segway PT owners to receive product orientation. We now offer a 30-minute on-site introduction and overview of the Segway PT at most new owner's homes. The program includes information about the basic operation and safety features of the Segway PT. It also covers skills and drills and helps new owners anticipate unexpected or challenging riding situations. A supervised ride is included in our new orientation experience.

Seattle sees the benefits of Segway PT use.
The City of Seattle has released their final report on using Segway PTs to read water meters. The report noted that the "economic benefit derives primarily from route efficiency, which can allow [meter readers] to accomplish the same meter reading with reduced labor costs." It was hard to miss the news that former President and Mrs. George Bush, Sr. are the proud owners of two new Segway HTs. The Bush children (Dorothy, George W., Jeb and Neil) bought a Segway PT for their dad George H. W. Bush in celebration of both his 79th birthday and Father's Day. Barbara Bush liked the Segway PT so much that Dean Kamen made sure she received one too so she and her husband could enjoy their Segway PTs together. Both Mrs. Bush and the former President received orientation from Segway staff at their Walker's Point home in Kennebunkport, Maine. Much to the disappointment of the Segway staff, they had to leave before current President Bush arrived that very same day. Not having attended orientation (and maybe deciding not to listen to his mother), President Bush did not turn the Segway PT on before climbing aboard (and, we might add, neglected to put down his tennis racket). The result, of course, was that he didn't balance! Later that same day, the whole family was seen taking turns on the Segway PTs and having fun around the family grounds.
